A panel of six common pathogenic bacteria that cause atypical pneumonia, pooled, inactivated to render them non-infectious and formulated in transport medium that mimics a respiratory swab. Table 1 lists strains and culture method used for each bacteria included in this control. This kit is intended to validate and control sample processing, amplification and detection in nucleic acid assays based on the molecular identification of bacteria causing atypical pneumonia, using the product as an external run control.
